Project Overview
The EDU Events project encompassed multiple services: Mobile App Development, UI/UX Design, Website Creation, Branding Design, and Video Editing. This was a personal initiative project designed to showcase comprehensive digital solutions.
EDU Events aims to centralize all educational events in one place. This way, you can discover events and plan your free time, weekends, and outings with friends in a productive way. The core ideology of this project is a simple question: Without such centralization, how could you possibly hear about all the events in your area? Would you follow all event organizers on Instagram?
- Mobile App Development: This project required 3 applications: 1 application for general use (EDU Events - 53 screens), where users can discover all events, 1 application for event organizers (EDU Organizer - 50 screens) to manage their profile, schedule events, and scan tickets, and 1 application for the EDU Events Internal Team (EDU Management - 12 screens) to approve new organizers, approve event publishing, and send marketing notifications.
- Website Creation: The EDU Events website at events-edu.com contains 10 pages including GDPR Policy, terms and conditions for the applications.
- UI/UX Design: Includes design of the applications and website design.
- Branding Design: This involves 1 logo, 12 Instagram feed posts, 4 Instagram (9:16) posts for paid marketing, 1 post for Facebook/LinkedIn, 10 application mockups, 1 press kit, and filming 3 videos for general users of the application and 4 videos dedicated to explaining the process and benefits to organizers.
- Video Editing: Includes editing a total of 7 videos.
Technical Details
All 3 applications were built sharing the same database in Adalo, and in the future, I will migrate it to a premium database (Xano). To automate emails and notifications, I utilized Zapier (11 Zaps), for localization services I connected an API from Google Maps, and for the Event Creator GPT of the EDU Organizer App, I connected an API from OpenAI (without historization of the responses).
The website was built in Webflow, and the domain, SSL, and business emails were obtained from IONOS. Videos were edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, and all design work was created in Figma utilizing several plugins.
Functionalities of the EDU Events application include EDU Maps, buying tickets, event filtering, following organizers, and sending notifications. The EDU Organizer app offers features such as EDU Maps, Event Creator GPT, ticket scanning, viewing analytics specific to each organizer's events, managing the organizer's profile, and requesting event publications.
The marketing strategy utilized for the created posts was divided into two parts: marketing to organizers and marketing to general users (event participants). The marketing to organizers focused on how they can get more participants to their events and how the platform could save them time planning, selling tickets and keeping track to the number of participants, while the marketing to users highlighted the convenience of finding events faster, spending time in a productive way and getting better overall.
Both parts of the marketing relied on selling the need of the targeted groups and in addition to that, I added information regarding the benefits and functionalities displayed for each target group.
Results and Impact
You can download EDU Events and EDU Organizer from the App Store and Google Play Store. The website is accessible at events-edu.com, and the posts are available on EDU Events social media accounts (check the website). Additionally, I have planned further updates (available at events-edu.com/proiecte), and if required, I will rebuild the EDU Events and EDU Organizer applications with more robust software, as this system was built with a startup budget and can currently support up to 2000 concurrent users.
